A Voice For The Voiceless (2019)

CSR:
Tribal Worldwide Singapore with Lighthouse Foundation Nepal

Having volunteered with Lighthouse Foundation Nepal (LHFN), Jeff Cheong (the deputy president of the company) knew the struggles that the organisation faced. Like many NGOs, raising funds was a constant struggle for LHFN, which helps sex trafficking victims. He thought it was a good opportunity for us to put our resources and skills towards a good cause. He put together a team of five to shoot a documentary to highlight the plight of women and children who are forced into prostitution in Nepal but are rescued by LHFN.

My Role:
I wore many hats as the fixer, interviewer, copywriter and managing the logistics for this project. It was my first time producing a documentary and I had to quickly adapt to making decisions on the go. My prior life as a journalist came in handy for this project too, as I was able to get the women and girls to open up to me with their heart-rending stories. We decided to go with this working title for the film as we felt that they were telling their stories in their own voice.
